Sarah or Hera Smith

Sarah Smith or Hera daughter of Hachem and Tauarai had according to my records two marriages. The first to John Craig Finlayson, and later to Ihaka Hikawera. The following are some of the descendants of the FINLAYSON, the THOM, and the MORGAN (through her daughter Margaret) connections.

Sarah Smith and Craig Finlayson were married at the home of Sarah’s parents Hachem and Tauarai Smith on 31.03.1873, at Mahia. Sarah Smith and Craig were married by Tamiana Huata.

NOTE; Henry and Margaret met in Wairoa and went to South Africa in Dec 1895. After Henry's death from typhoid in Johannesburg in 1897, Margaret travelled back to Wairoa with her infant son (my grandfather) Richard Edward Henry Pilson. She then married John Henry Morgan in Wairoa on 5 July 1898. By 1899 she and her second husband John Henry Morgan welcomed a daughter Charlotte into the world and went on to have 4 other children.
