| EDUCATION
Lopez is heralded as the educational center of southern Quezon with students coming not just from Lopez itself but from its nearby towns, the Bondoc Peninsula and as far as Camarines Norte in the Bicol Region. The town boasts of and is fortunate to be home to two (2) state universities: the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) and the Philippine Normal University (PNU). The former offers several business- and engineering-related courses while the latter provides elementary and secondary education courses; masteral courses are also offered by both universities. Apart from these, Open University (Pamantasang Bayan) was also established by PUP in 1990 which offers degree and non-degree programs. Eastern Tayabas College also offers Liberal Arts although a significant number of students in the said college are enrolled in its secondary education department. |

| Lopez also houses the provincial technical/vocational school under the supervision of TESDA. It offers several programs and courses which include general automotive mechanics, general electronics, general electricity, welding and fabrication, dressmaking and other courses.
As for secondary education, Lopez has thirteen (13) public and five (5) private high schools. The largest of which is the government-run Lopez National Comprehensive High School, refuted as the second (2nd) largest public high school in the province after Quezon National High School in Lucena City. Its sprawling campus is located in Brgy. Magsaysay and is dotted by several buildings. One could also found here the track and field oval and grandstand which hosts numerous sports activities. Instead of students coming to the town center where most schools are located, the government made sure that education would be available to even to the far-flung barangays by establishing high schools in several barangays. Most of these have annex/extension campuses in other barangays apart from the main ones in the host barangays. |
