Reflection

The Digital Divide Effects Teachers Too is a literature review that discusses teachers and the digital divide.  I focused on three areas, lack of teacher preparation, lack of lack of teacher competency, and lack of professional development.  It is important that teachers are given the opportunity to use technology when appropriate.  Through this research, I was amazed to find the lack of technology use amongst teachers and teacher preparation programs.  The support needs to be in place before teachers will be willing to make the change to technology.
The three other artifacts are all lessons incorporating technology.  I used three different content standards and focused on finding resources in support of the lessons for students to use.  Teachers could definitely use these lessons and see a variety of resources available for them to use in the classroom as well.  There are also several ideas as to how to incorporate technology into the curriculum.
It is also important for teachers to make learning fun and engaging for students.  The last artifact is a tutorial showing teachers how to make webquests.  This way teachers can find useful sites for students and make the learning interactive.  Students are required to do a task while using sites on the internet.  By doing a webquest teachers can manage student learning.
