When taking the NJROTC class at Lake Mary High School, there are
several required items that the cadets need. This includes physical forms
(as in any of the HS sports activities), as well as other items required for
their uniforms. Some of the uniform items are assembled and provided at
cost by the Booster Club to make like a little easier for parents.
Physicals forms:
A
physical, valid for the current school year, is required - just as
if they were participating in a sport. The forms need parent signatures, and must be notarized!
The school has a Seminole County physical
form and an addendum that must be submitted at
the beginning of the year for all students participating in a school
sport (including NJROTC).
Forms can be obtained from the school office or from one of the NJROTC
instructors.
Note: LMHS sometimes hosts a "Sports Physical" night during the
first week of school. Several Dr.s, and Notary
Publics, offer their time and services for one evening at the high school.
The cost is reasonable and the convenience can't be beat.
The Navy also has a health and fitness
form (the Health Risk Screening Questionnaire). If the answer to any of
the questions on the form is YES
then it also has to be signed by a physician and returned. NJROTC Health Risk Screening Questionnaire
8 ounce can of Brasso, Blue Magic or equivalent metal polish
At the start of each year, the
Booster Club often assembles and then provides these first 5 items at cost to
both new and returning cadets.
2 1/2 ounce can of black Kiwi paste shoe polish (not liquid polish)
1 red NJROTC T-shirt for Physical Training (PT) days
Shirt stays
Name tag

3 plain white crew neck T-shirts
Cadets are responsible for
supplying these last 5 items on their own.
3 pair plain black socks
3 pair white crew socks
1 pair black shorts
$2.00 for insurance (returning cadets as well)
Uniforms: Uniforms will be issued as soon as possible at the beginning
of the school year. These are worn on "Uniform Days", which are
Wednesdays at Lake Mary. Follow this link to see what's included in a typical
uniform.
Books:
A good place to get started with
understanding about the NJROTC program is to read through the manuals each cadet
is given:
Lake Mary High School NJROTC Cadet Rules and
Regulations Manual (small white booklet) - explains how the program is
run here at Lake Mary
A Field Manual for the Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC)
(large orange paperback book) - explains everything from what you will be
issued for your uniforms to how to wear them, to haircuts and salutes.
