A TOUR OPERATORS VIEW
Q: From a tour operators perspective, do you welcome the move?
A: I personally do not like the idea of hotels doing room auctions for the simple reason we tour operators are already overburdened with a lot of administrative work in connection with hotel rates, categories, validity seasons, surcharges, release periods, black-out periods, etc. Room auctions make things more work-intensive and if you get a bargain deal, you run the risk of not being able to sell the rooms you have bought.
Q: Does it influence you to use the hotel?
A: No.
Q: Is this a good way for hoteliers to move their stock?
A: It may well work for some hotels some of the time, depending very much on market conditions.
