TRAVELASIA RECOGNISES THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO DARED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN CRISIS

TravelAsia honoured winners in its third Breakthrough Awards on Monday evening.

More than 300 leading tourism figures turned up at the black tie affair at the Hotel Inter-Continental Singapore to salute whom TravelAsia’s editorial director Yeoh Siew Hoon called "the crisis busters in our industry".

"This year’s awards is particularly significant because it is about celebrating winners who have dared to make a difference, who have not allowed the bad economic times daunt their spirits to achieve breakthroughs in their individual fields.

"Crises bring out the best in us. This awards celebrates the crisis busters in our industry, the individuals who have made a difference despite the tough times. The people who dared to stand out. Because you dare, we care."

TravelAsia’s Breakthrough Awards was judged by a panel of 35 leading tourism figures, including tour operators, travel agents, airline executives, hoteliers and tourism board chiefs.

"Judging was particularly challenging this year – we put together a panel of 35 judges. Our awards is not a popularity contest based on votes, but a judgement by professional peers based on specific criteria," said Fiona Rankine, executive director of Venture Asia Publishing.
