I think one should respect people’s right to travel and let the individual concerned to take the decision whether to make a political statement by not travelling to Myanmar or to simply enjoy a visit to Myanmar without politics. Potential tourists to Myanmar will make such a choice and tour operators should make it possible for anyone to travel to any part of the earth including, of course to Myanmar. I personally do not understand how certain tour operators can state that they do not want to feature tours to Myanmar because there is no real democracy when the same tour operators are happily promoting tours to China, Vietnam, Laos, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, North Korea and Mongolia, etc. Myanmar is one of the most beautiful countries in the Far East, offering a very rich culture, a wide variety of natural attractions, friendly people, colourful minorities, good shopping and excellent hotels at competitive rates. It would not be right for certain tour operators to prevent potential tourists from discovering this most beautiful country for themselves. Asian Trails will be pleased to promote tourism to Myanmar and any other country in the area, as we are tour operators and should leave politics to the politicians!
