JURY AND CHIEF GUESTS

Prominent film-makers are always busy!  They are out in the field doing what most of us like to be doing, making movies!  So our panel of jury and chief guests keeps getting updated and changing as film makers find time to be a part of this event.  Mr. K S Sethumadhavan, prominent film maker and award winner, is constantly guiding us on the workings of a video awards and keeping us in touch with film makers.  He is as much a part of AVA as all of Asan's Visual Communication students are and you are, inspite of his own busy life.  This event is being enhanced for all of us by his sincere affiliation to it.

 

K. S. SETHUMADHAVAN


 

K. S. Sethumadhavan (born in Palakkad in 1926) is an Indian director of Malayalam movies. Since the early 1960s he has directed some 60 movies. Sethumadhavan graduated from the Madras University. He worked as assistant to directors like K Ramnoth, L V Prasad and T R Sundaram. He was the chairman of the national film award jury. He has won The National Award twice, one in 1981 for Oppol (Malayalam) and the other in 1991 for Marupakkam (Tamil).  (more information on K. S. Sethumadhavan)

MADHU AMBAT


Madhu Ambat has worked as a director of Photography for more than 120 films in 8 different languages. He won The National Award for Best Color Photography for the Sanskrit film Adi Sankaracharya in 1984, Directed by G. V. Iyer.

K.HARIHARAN


 

Mr. K. Hariharan is a filmmaker, educator and director of the L.V. Prasad Film & TV Academy in Chennai. He is a graduate of the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune (1976). He has directed seven feature films. In addition to fiction, K.Hariharan has directed numerous documentary and educational films. He won The National Award for the best film in 1982 for ‘Ezhavathu Manithan’.

SANTHOSH SIVAN



 

Santosh Sivan born in Chennai is an influential Tamil cinematographer and film director. He worked with legendary Bollywood directors as Aditya Bhattacharya and the always innovative Mani Rathnam. A noted cinematographer, he has won The National Awards 9 times. Sivan serves as cinematographer on all his directorial efforts, giving his films a distinct, lush visual beauty.
