They're written in a serial format, each one ending in a bit of a cliffhanger. It goes in the NNJG's monthly newsletter, which I coincidentally am the editor of. Since there's no one on the horizon to either do the newsletter next year or contribute the trip reports that Ted and Jed displace in the newsletter, I'm assuming these will go on indefinitely.
I don't know what the official length of a novel is, but since each of these is just twelve short chapters, each is probably a novella or short story or something else of an unpublishable length. Not that there's a clamoring market for novel-size, unless you've been published before. Damn paradoxes.
