| Masaka Village Project : This Project involves building of a Medical Clinic for a village in rural Blantyre called Masaka. The Project is a joint one between Blantyre Lions Club who already built the Clinic, Kabula Club who will build one house for Medical Officer, Limbe Lions Club who will build a second house for a nurse, and Chichiri New Century Club who will build a dam and a vegetable farm. The people of Masaka have to travel very long distances, close to 10-15 km to the nearest hospital, and mostly on foot or on bicycles. That is not an easy task when you are sick. In their own words, they say "people's conditions worsen while enroute to hospital, and also due to the poor travelling condition of the sick". The hospital will be a definite relief. Government has promised to send medical personnel only after accomodation for them is provided. Kabula Club is committed to working with the people of Masaka Village to realise their dream. In addition to Masaka Village, there are eight other villages that will benefit from the Project. And in showing their commitment, the people of Masaka have so far moulded 65 000 bricks, will collect firewood for brick burning, water, and sand. How much more committed can one be. The Club is organising many events to fundraise for this Project. Read here about them. EDUCATION FUND: The Club has in the past years been supporting underproviledged secondary school students in government schools by providing school fees and money for pocket money. 22 Students have been beneficiaries of this fund, 100% funded by Club members. In this year, the goal is to extend this assistance to as many students countrywide. Fundraising initiatives are underway to give these students a chance to education, which they cannot otherwise have. RE-AFFORESTATION DRIVE: The Club understands about the environment we live in, and will join the Republic of Malawi this year in the Tree Planting exercise due in December 2007. The Club will donate seedlings and of course plant our own trees, in a designated area as will be guided by the Forestry Department. OTHER PROJECTS: These are just the major Projects of the Club.
