As an observer and sometime participant at this forum, I can appreciate the insightful and honest advice that I have seen given here over the past months. The time has come for me to seek some of my own. I have been married for many years now to a wonderful woman who was baptised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses a few years ago. I do not agree with her decision to take this step, but will always support her right to her own self autonomy.
Recently, the subject of a Will and various Power of Attorney documents came up and was discussed with mutual consent reached on all items except the blood transfusion issue. I could not in all good conscience, sign a document that would allow her to die rather than receive blood. A stalemate ensued.
Since discovering L.E.'s blood site almost a year ago, I have had many frank, and open discussions with my wife. She agrees with me that there are many unanswered questions on the part of
the Watchtower Society. She has been understandably reluctant to take these issues to the elders herself.
I would like very much to move forward with this matter, as it is really the only thing that bothers me about her
involvement with the WTS. I of course disagree with most of the teachings of the Watchtower, but I feel that they are for the most part, harmless as far as our relationship goes.
My wife has suggested that I meet with the local HLC rep myself in order to clear up some of the grey areas. I know the man personally as I attend some of the "social" functions held by the congregation. This seemed like a good idea to me, although I'm concerned about possible repercussions on her part when my sources become known, ( the Internet, Ray Franze's book, AJWRB, etc. ) I do not plan on holding back, I have some very pointed questions to ask this fellow, and will not be satisfied with stock answers. It could prove to be a very interesting discussion indeed!
My questions for the board are these:
Any Suggestions on what to ask?
What can we/she/ I expect to
see as a result of questioning the organization?
