Space Wolves - Battle Reports

Starship Troopers the Campaign

The Final Battle - Aftermath

Wow, that was an awesome game with some great cinematic moments. It seemed impossible, but the invaders managed to pull off a victory by a narrow margin! Alright! After deployment, I was looking at the board and wondering to myself, "this is impossible. The invaders have too few troops." But we stuck to our battle plan and actually managed to win.

We did have a lot of luck too, like one of the Plasma Bugs scattering to within 1" or a Tau model when it arrived and was wiped out automatically. If it had just scattered another inch away, it won't have been destroyed but would have been in an ideal position to wipe out the Tau, our strongest fire base. The destruction of the other Plasma Bug by Inquisitor Crynos using the Book of Words was wonderful too. Doubtless, it would have killed the two remaining Chaos Space Marines and would then be free to roam and destroy the Night Lords with only the Daemon Prince able to go toe to toe against it.

The Grey Knights Grandmaster was great too, slicing down the two Hive Tyrants with such ease, the Nemesis Force Weapon sure is potent. The combined might of the Wolf Priest and the Emperor's Champion and the two squads of Black Templars wrecked total havoc against the Tyranids on the right, wiping all of them out and still having two Black Templars alive at the end of the game. Future Sergeants I say.

It was cinematic and strategic that I had two Grey Hunters left from the two packs and each of them managed to go for a chain gun and man it. Particulary amusing is that the Grey Hunter going for the right chain gun won't have made it, since it was too far away, but a failed "all on your own" test meant that it ran just far enough to reach the chain gun and regroup and man it!

The Tyranids spore mines were deadly, almost killing off the henchman of Fabius Bile. He had one wound left and if he had failed an armour save and died, all the Night Lords would have been forced to retreat. Without the Daemon Prince's kills on the last turn, the invaders would have less victory points and would have lost. Close...

All in all, a great game that could have swung either way depending on the roll of the dice. It just happened to swing the invaders way this time, and made for a great cinematic battle. Kudos to all who have participated and nurgle who came up with the scenarios.
