Starship Troopers the Campaign

The Final Battle - Turn 1

With a loud boom, the Thunderhawk Gunship sped upwards into the air, it's twin contrails lighting up the early morning sky. As the first wave, it was their duty to clear the area of any enemy forces to prepare the way for reinforcements to land safely. A few blue plasma shots from the plasma bugs could be seen arcing upwards towards space as the Tyranid forces began to respond to the presence of the invaders.

The ground forces readied their weapons and scanned the surroundings for any sign of the enemy. Their previous reconaissance have shown the enemy to spill forth in a sudden assault from seemingly innocent looking rock formations. It was a strange sight to see Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines standing shoulder to shoulder fighting against a common enemy as they once did 10,000 years ago. It was an uneasy truce forced upon by the dire circumstances and a common enemy -- the Tyranids. Both sides cast an occasional glance at the other party while scanning for the Tyranids, still mistrustful of each other.

As the moments past without any movement, the tension in the air begin to increase. Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines eyed each other warily, old enmities threatening to surface. It began as a soft distant clicking sound that quickly amplified to a loud chittering volume, announcing the arrival of the Tyranids. Old enmities were cast aside as both Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines turned their undivided attention to the surroundings as the chittering became increasingly louder.

There wasn't long to wait before the Tyranids finally burst into fulll view. It was immediately apparent that the Tyranids had caught the invaders in a pincer attack, trapping the invaders in between. The invaders tightened their formations as the Tyranids advanced. Although the Tyranids did not have many range weaponry, some of the heavier weapons carried by the monstrous creatures as well as strange blast attacks which can only be psychic in nature brought down a few of the Space Marines and damaged the Whirlwind. Strange spores drifted down upon the air currents, exploding upon contact with the invaders, bringing a few of them down. Despite this initial casualties, all of the invaders remained resolute in purpose and readied their weapons as the Tyranids approached.
