Nakoma Golf Resort just outside Portola, CA. We drove up to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed clubhouse and had hot dogs for lunch. The patio outside the clubhouse offers wonderful views. |

The Museum had many locomotives to see (mainly diesels). Visitors were free to climb up and inside. So, I took Nick inside of the cab of one diesel only to discover a hornet's nest. We quickly exited. There were very few descriptions of the trains, the photograph shown above being one of the few. The gift shop was good with lots of memorabilia. My dad might like the selection of books which seemed extensive with many on consignment. I guess I'd call it half museum half junk yard and I suspect hard core rail buffs might prefer the later. |
