Nick in cab of engine shown below. He protested when I lifted him up to get in and then threw a fit when I picked him up to go. |
|
The Railroad Park Resort was just north of Castle Crags State Park off Highway 5. It looks like a fun place to stay with each guest staying in a separate railway car. We just stopped for 30 minutes to walk around - of course Nick didn't want to leave. |

McCloud, CA is located in the shadows of Mount Shasta. After an excellent tasting burger for lunch that took forever to be served, we took a real train ride - a one hour excursion through the forest with views of Mount Shasta and one scenic overlook of the forested terrain. I found it relaxing listening to the click-clack of the wheels on the rail and feeling the cool mountain breeze. Terri was having chills. Nick having missed his afternoon nap fell asleep after about 20 minutes. |
