A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Fountain
Jalgor 9 - 10

The party piled the minotaur bodies in front of the door. They healed themselves up and then rested. Nothing of interest happened. The next morning the party explored the shaft in the ceiling. Shabaz climbed up and was able to detect secret doors. Habib came up and figured out that it was some type of trap door that he figured he could trigger. The party set up an elaborate plan to trigger the trap door, only to have it slam shut again, open only long enough to drop down a moldy, rotted rug.

The party refined their plan, but stopped when they heard voices outside the door they had entered the room from. The party laid an ambush, but it turned out to be another party of lost adventures. The new party claimed to know where a fountain was (and also revealed that they had picked up all the parties marking money along the way). The new party had four members; a sorceress named Shandra, a Durpari guide name Hassam, a Border Scout from Eofor named Roly and a elven cleric named Kergen.

Shandra stated that she was from Brindonford and had met Rowen and his student Furic before. Shandra said that she was travelling with Roly who had been sent to assess the strength of the Durpari. They had hire Hassam, in Sanheim, to guide them.

Kergen was reluctant to talk. He did state that he was looking for the elves and wondered if Torrel was doing the same. He had been with a group that became side tracked to the pyramid and that the group had been killed by the minotaurs. He did not believe that Torrel could not remember his past and pretty much accused him of faking his amnesia.

The party decided to join up with the new group and go looking for the fountain. They had traveled through a few rooms when Aidan found himself being attacked by Roly and Hassam who now revealed that they were doppelgangers. Aidan managed to fend them off and soon the rest of the party was coming unknowingly into the room. After a short fight, Roly was knocked unconscious, Shandra and Hassam fled into the mists. Kergen came out of the mists after the fight had ended. Roly had been stabilized but remained unconscious. Kergen was shocked that the others were evil. He then tried to flee into the mist and the party, already edgy, attacked and killed him, revealing that he too was a doppelganger.

The party went back to the minotaur room, figuring this was the safest bet out of there. After some fancy planning they were able to all get up into a prayer room above.

In the hall next to the prayer room they found writings about a priest of Amun-Re named Munafik. Twice the party encountered Wights and were able to defeat them, though there were some close calls in the second battle.
Above our thoughts now Master sleeps

In dreamy realms and sky so deep. The High Priest worked a wonder great and sealed him up unto his fate.

Great Munafik, the Priest most high, studies his tomes that he might ply, that water path where all the great, leave death behind and loose their fate.

Munafik was High Priest of Amun-Re and leader of his rites and his religion.

Munifik, Priest, was keeper of the Tomes of Terbakar, the greatest library in all lands of the Golden Age.

Munafik searched, too, for life eternal and some say that he sought to rob the Pharoahs of their right to that life.

But through his study of all the books of secret lore, he sought only to serve.

In truth, Munafik's search was rewarded, for the books showed him the way of life eternal here.

Now terrible and great in his power, he acts as the voice of Amun-Re to us.

He cannot die, for his life lies elsewhere.

Munafik now is second only to Osiris himself, and he has claim on the rule of Amun-Re.
