The Phoenix Rising
The first rays of dawn are peeking over the horizon as LAURELINA quietly slips through the grounds and out Redwalls gate, slowly making her way down the path, looking sadly back at the Abbey.
LAURELINA
There are some times I wish that I was like everyone else I grew up with there. Destined to grow old in such a wonderful place, with such wonderful beasts. But... I cant seem to.
WHEN THE AIR SINGS OF SUMMER
I MUST WANDER AGAIN
THOUGH I KNOW NOT WHERE IM GOING
THE FOREST IS MY FRIEND
THE TREES ARE STILL
THE SHADOWS LONG
AND AS I WANDER I SING THIS SONG
FOR TO LIVE IS TO WANDER
THROUGH THE SUN AND THE RAIN
SO WHEN THE AIR SINGS OF SUMMER
I MUST WANDER AGAIN
FIRST I WANDERED IN YOUTH AND JOY
THEN I WANDERED TO STILL MY FEARS
FIRST I WANDERED WITH MY FRIEND
NOW I WANDER TO HIDE THE TEARS
ACROSS THE SEASONS AND THE YEARS
WHEN I SIT IN A HOUSE
NOW IT IS A BIRD WITHIN A CAGE
TRY AS I MIGHT, I CANNOT STAY
MY CAPTIVITY PAINS
OH, THE SOFT JOY OF FREEDOM
IS MY LOSS AND MY GAIN
FOR WHEN THE AIR SINGS OF SUMMER
I MUST WANDER AGAIN
She gives the Abbey a final glance, and starts off down the path, the sun fully over the horizon, illuminating a second, curiously familiar hare slipping through the gates. HITHIL waits awhile before taking to the trees on the side of the path and following her.
