ROLAND enters the Hogs Head, steering ARIA before him. The bar is as dingy and filthy as always. He moves her toward the stairs, a cruel look on his face, and begins to sing softly.
ROLAND
NIGHTTIME SHARPENS
HEIGHTENS EACH SENSATION
DARKNESS STIRS
AND WAKES IMAGINATION
SILENTLY THE SENSES
ABANDON THEIR DEFENSES
HELPLESS TO RESIST
A SIMPLE SIGHT
FRIGHTENED BY
THE LOVE I'LL GIVE TONIGHT
They climb stairs behind the bar and enter a room just as dingy as the one they left, with a rough table and chairs in the middle, and a low scant-looking bed in the far corner. Roland lights a branch of candles with a wave of his wand.
SLOWLY, GENTLY
NIGHT UNFURLS ITS SPELENDOR
GRASP IT, SENSE IT
TREMOULOUS AND TENDER
Aria looks longingly at the candles, and he turns her head to face him
TURN YOUR FACE AWAY
FROM THE GARISH LIGHT OF DAY
TURN YOUR THOUGHTS AWAY
FROM COLD UNFEELING LIGHT
AND THINK ABOUT THE LOVE I'LL GIVE TONIGHT
He strokes her cheek, gently closing each of her eyes.
CLOSE YOUR EYES
AND SURRENDUR TO YOUR DARKEST DREAMS
PURGE YOUR THOUGHTS
OF THE LIFE YOU KNEW BEFORE!
CLOSE YOUR EYES
LET YOUR SPIRIT START TO SOAR!
AND YOU'LL LIVE
AS YOU'VE NEVER LIVED BEFORE
Steers her to the bed, and pushes her down onto it, where she sits rigidly, utterly terrified. He looks at her, his face suddenly blank and impassive.
SOFTLY, DEFTLY
MY LOVE SHALL SURROUND YOU
FEEL IT, HEAR IT
CLOSING IN AROUND YOU
OPEN UP YOUR MIND
LET YOUR FANTASIES UNWIND
IN THIS DARKNESS WHICH
YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT FIGHT
THE LOVE YOU'LL KNOW
IN THE DARKNESS TONIGHT
He reaches for her, and slowly takes her shoes, stockings, sweater, shirt and skirt off her rigid limbs.
LET YOUR MIND
START A JOURNEY THROUGH A STRANGE NEW WORLD
LEAVE ALL THOUGHTS
OF THE LIFE YOU KNEW BEFORE!
LET YOUR SOUL
TAKE YOU WHERE YOU LONG TO BE!
ONLY THEN
CAN YOU BELONG TO ME
FLOATING, FALLING
SWEET INTOXICATION
TOUCH ME, TRUST ME
SAVOR EACH SENSATION
LET THE DREAM BEGIN
LET YOUR DARKER SIDE GIVE IN
TO THE POWER OF THE FEAR YOU CANNOT FIGHT
THE POWER OF THE LOVE I GIVE TONIGHT
He throws her clothes into the corner in a dramatic flourish as the song ends, and laying her out on the bed, slowly bends over her.
ROLAND (viciously) Its been years, cousin.
