3-14 or 15-93
I am not sure if it actually the 15 – my dates are all messed-up!
Today was wonderful – I slept in until 2:30 – I guess that the jet lag finally caught-up with me. When I got up, I showered, then Marie and I went to see the end of Maiol’s basketball game. His team lost in the last four minutes, 71 to 74. Oh well.
After the game Maiol went to Alfredo’s house to celebrate his birthday. Roger, Marie, Albert, y I went to "the mountain" to see Marie’s parents. I loved their home. I took lots of pictures so I won’t bother to try to explain it. For lunch we had paella – Wow! I didn’t realize that seafood could taste so good.
Then we came home and all went to the movies, except Roger, to see the "Scent of a Woman" (w/Al Pacino). Unfortunately, by the time we got there, all the tickets had been sold. We wandered around for an hour or so, then we went to see "Of Mice y Men" (w/John Malkovich). It was in English, with subtitles in Spanish. The movie was very well done, but I still don’t care for the story in the least – I think that it is too real, too believable for me to emerse myself in. One thing that I really enjoyed about the theatres here are the sheets of paper that are printed up, that give all of the information about the film: the actors, a synopsis of the film, and information of how it was made – very intriguing.
Tomorrow I am going to meet Maiol at 10:30 in front of a porno theater – it’s the only thing that I remember about the area where we are going to meet. Then we are going to Las Ramblas so I can be a tourist and buy lots of souvenirs.
Mom called yesterday, while we were at the Museum of Dali. Roger took a very nice message, in English, for me. I called at 12:30 AM – 230 in Ca. and only Jenny was home. She said that I talked funny – I guess that I am forgetting how to speak in English. I am finding that I am beginning to understand a little of the conversation – not sentences or phrases, but enough words so that I can get a basic gist of a conversation.
Some words – aqui = here, alli = there, habla English = do you speak English, got = glass, manana = tomorrow, pollo = chicken, loco = crazy, gracias/merci = thank you, nada = it’s nothing.
There is a lot more, but I am drawing a blank – probably because it’s 2 A.M. and I need to get my sleep.
hola = hello, coma esta = where are we going, que pasa = what’s happening, y = and, beunos dias = good morning, buenos noches = good night, bien = good.
Buenos noches!
