I loved their home
Now I can’t recall just what their home looked like. Unfortunately, one of the rolls of film that I shot at their house was damaged during development and only a few images were salvaged. Now, both Grandpa and Grandma are gone, and the house has been sold. I wish I could go back there, just once, to see if I could get some "memory" to tide me over.
I guess that the one thing about their home, which stands out for me, is the interior staircase that went between the first and second levels of their home. This staircase was built into a wall, with the "stairs" jutting out from the wall, and not otherwise supported. In fact, there was not even a hand railing to grasp. I remember sitting at the table, staring at the staircase, and wondering how I’d feel about walking up and down it every day. The other thing that I remember about their home is the gardens. Everything seemed to be in bloom the day I was there, and the fragrance of the flowers and the herbs was enough to make me want to weep from the beauty.
