We had paella
Paella is a traditional Spanish dish, made from rice that has been cooked in saffron-infused broth, with sausages, ham, chicken, and different types of seafood added. Traditionally paella is cooked outside, over an open fire, in a gargantuan deep-sided skillet (it looks like a cross between a stew-pot and a wok.) The fire is usually built from different types of woods, and branches of various herbs are thrown onto the flames to release the flavors. Besides the all y oli, this meal of paella was probably the most memorable food I had while in Barcelona, followed closely by the Spanish omelet.
