The South; Inequality against the South

When many people think of the south and inequally, they immediately think of racism in the deep south. Indeed, a blight on southern culture this was. However, the south like every other regions of the country are seeking to overcome this deeply rooted behavior. However, in today's world inequality and the south is no longer based on racial lines. The term regionism would work well for the inequality that occurs today. The negative perception of the south portrayed in movies and echoed in other regions of the county. For instance, years ago I was involved with my community college's Rotaract Club. We were part of a group hosting program where members of our sister club from the UK would come to North Carolina, and likewise we would travel back to the UK with them. They have the previously conceived notion that by coming to the south they would see the reality purported by Hollywood of a slow, mentally incompetent group of farmers.
