It is indeed common in the south for families to be deeply religious, and maintain judeo-christian values and observances. In older towns across the south, a form of architecture is often referred to as plantation style. It looks to take influence from greco-roman styles with large adorned pillars. There are some instances of of Gothic Style buildings - this is especially common in cities and towns like New Bern.

Continuing, the southern culture is far more relaxed than its nothern counterpart. Many believe this is due to the business atmosphere in the south. In northern culture, business is fast paced, and many hold the belief that if you are not first, you are last. This is one of the areas where outside cultures view the south as backwards. Southerners are oft considered to talk slow, and therefore thing slow. It is infact that the fast speech commonly present in northern accents are not required in the south to participate in the business community.
