Student Assessment Policy

Grading Policy: Student grades will be determined from their activity in band and completing a student portfolio. 

The band rehearsal grade will be worth 50 % of the report card grade.  

Student portfolio's will be worth 30% of the report card grade. 

Student lesson performance will be worth 20% of the report card grade. 

Band Rehearsal Grades will break down into four categories: 

        Pre-Rehearsal Rubric (10 %),

        Participation Rubric (30 %), 

        Preparation (30 % ), 

        Assessments Page (30%).  

A student who is absent on any band concert night will automatically fail  that quarter. 

Student portfolio Grades will break down into 4 categories:

                Student Self-Assessment of Individual Home Recordings (20%)

        Scale Benchmark Report (20%)

                Practice Record (30%)

                Concert Analysis (20%)

Student lesson performance grade will break down into 3 categories: 

                Lesson attendance, preparation & effort Rubric (40%)

                Technique of playing rubric (20%)

                Performance of instrument rubric (20%)

Optional Extra Credit:

    New York State School Music Association Festival Participation - Add 5 points to final grade
