Assessments

Assessments (30 %): Assessments are a way to expand the type of musical knowledge students gain while in band.  They center on concepts the ensemble is learning and incorporating in performance but allow the student to interact with those concepts from a different angle. 

Students will have opportunities to earn this portion of the grade through various activities which may include some, but not all of the following: written tests, concert critiques, performance evaluations, music notation writing and mini-research activities.  

Rubrics will be created based on individual assessments.  These will be announced throughout the quarter as they become relevant to our daily rehearsals.
