Memnoch the Devil
1995
The book starts with Lestat stalking a mortal, Roger, and then finally kills him. But Roger's ghost comes back to life to ask Lestat to do him a favor.
After that, Lestat meets with the Devil and gets a guided tour through Heaven and and Hell. And that's it, that's what it's about.
My comments
First of all, I've changed this page because when I had read the book once or twice, I didn't like it. But then I read it again, and if not loved it, at least I liked it a lot, hence the changes.
I was pretty fond of both Roger's and Memnoch's stories, even though Memnoch gets rather  boring at times. What I didn't like was Lestat's love for Dora
I also noticed something in a book about London. The name Wynkyn de Worde! But stupid as I am, I put the book away without reading carefully, and now I can't find the right page again. But I believe he had to do with books around 1500. (If you know anything, I'm always pleased if you'll
e-mail me) I'm pretty sure he's the one Anne had in mind when creating her character Wynken de Wilde, whose books Roger collected.
But why did Memnoch give Lestat's eye to Maharet in the end? She probably wasn't chosen at random...Did they know each other from before?
And I really thought Armand died in the end. Actually, I think he was meant to, but then Anne changed her mind after the book was published.
Oh, yes, and it's sad how Lestat went into "coma".

And the covers...what is there to say? A stone angel and someone walking across a snowy bridge. Could be Lestat
