Lake of Dreams

Traitor
After the events of the last few adventures, Cydwin decided to ditch the rest of the party and become a servent of Oroth.  He worked very closely with F.C. Dracos and Mithril.  After a while, he began working independently, answering only to Oroth.  During this time, he gained quite a lot of power and learned much about the art of magic, having access to spells long thought lost to the world.  He also got a lot of Oroth's little presents...
Oroth also moved him through the time stream so he could get more things done.  This wreaked untold havok and lead to many encounters with NPCs who would keep moving a few seconds with regards to him.  (they would forget the last few sentances of conversation, or jump ahead).
Cydwin didn't do anything terribly reprehensible during this period, he just worked to free Oroth.

The Coin of Chaos
Earlier, on the adventure in Kilan Tor, the party had discovered an item known as the Coin of Chaos.  They could not determine its exact purpose, but found out that it's general effect was to bring good and evil both down several notches by introducing huge quantities of chaos.  What they didn't quite realise was how this worked on a continental scale.  Because of its nuetrality effects, they gave it to the druidess, figuring she'd know when and if to use it.
Cassandra was in her house, chatting with chipmunks and the like, when two dracomen swooped down and started interrogating her.  She paniced and flipped the Coin.  This had no other immediate effect, other than creating an immense whirlwind.  Eventually, after a short scuffle, she agreeded to go with the Dracomen willingly.  She was taken to Cynder's lair and through one of the gates that led into Oroth's prison.  After talking to him/his avatar/his servent for a short time she agrees to serve him and is given her own serpent amulet.

The Power Ritual
At exactly this moment, Cydwin is preparing to absorb several magical items, including that Onyx ring he was looking for, into his person.  He completes the last words of his incantation and watches the new second moon rise above the horizon as he is thrown sky high by the explosion from his partially failed ritual.  This was an amazing, but honest, coincidence.
Cydwin gained a huge amount of power, but ripped up his aura like nobody's business.  The entire ritual made him quite unstable and prone to slipping through time, space, or dimensions without warning.  It was really sort of funny.

The Lake of Dreams
Cydwin heard of the Lake of Dreams in his readings.  Supposedly, it was a type of testing ground, the choices they made within would place them in a new lifepath.  He both wanted to repair his aura and reconsider his alligence to Oroth.  So, he hired a suicidal ships captain to take him there, far from the mainland through trecherous waters.
When he reached the lake, he met Pearl, who would be his companion whenever he was at the lake (which ended up being a lot of time).  He meditated for many days and entered the lake.  What he hadn't realized from the books was that the tests in the Lake were encoded as symbols.  It took him a long time, but he eventually decoded the various tests and chose his new life path.
He emerged from the Lake with many new powers and some stability in his form and aura.  He abandoned Oroth and decided to simply seek internal wealth for a time.  His chosen place to do this was at the shores of the Lake.
Cydwin made several friends through the Lake.  Pearl, the Drow Child (actual brought from the Lake by Cydwin), and the Guardian.  The Guardian was a member of the First Race that stood watch over a strange portal that stood atop the mountain at the center of the Lake of Dreams.  He wasn't sure exactly what would happen if someone went through it, but was certain it would be bad for the world.  Ages ago, he decided to guard the portal to the exclusion of all else.  Cydwin spent a whole lot of time talking to this guardian, learning the guardians thoughts on the nature of things.

Mystical Experimentation
Its during this period that Cydwin stumbled upon thread magic.  After much practice he learned how to compress the mystical energies into strings and weave them together.  He was real sloppy at it for a long time, but he did figure it out.  He also learned that the Grey Robes a secretive group of magi, shared this secret.  They actually wanted to kill him very badly, but never quite got around to it.
Cydwin also experimented in Golems, Dream Magicks, and the creation of gates during this period.  Of the three, the gates were the most successful.  Cydwin eventually got it down so he could transport from almost anywhere to the Lake and from the Lake to almost anywhere.

Out of Phase
A lot of Cydwin's misadventure's during this period were due to his instability (from that first power ritual).  He never quite shook that off.  Occasionally he would find himself somewhere entirely different.  He ended up in the far future (a world almost drained of magic, barely hanging on), in the far past (during the First War), and in alternate presents (got to be Shadath for a little while, got mucked up in lots of weirdness).

Search for Self
For a short time, Cydwin tried to figure out why no prophecys spoke of him and other strange effects of a similar nature.  After managing to blow up two artifact level divination items, he gave into it and started referring to himself as "The Nameless One."  This was mostly used by Dark Prophet.  It never really caught on with anyone else.

The Dream Stalker
Cydwin got to fight various parts of Dark Prophet on at least three occasions during this part of the campaign.  During one of these encounters, Dark Prophet used his powers to rip Cydwin into two halves.  One with Cydwins nicer parts and one with the dark parts along with all of his powers over dreams.  The second part eventually signed up Stephan to do his dirty work (hmmm... form of wispy black smoke with glowing red eyes... evil?).  It could also summon the creatures of nightmare.  These gave all of the party members hell until Cydwin eventually subsummed the creature, after a long and painful quest to get the items required.
A side effect of this rivalry (apart from several battles which were never terribly conclusive) was Cydwin helping T'Lann ascend to Godhood. One of the items he required was a spirit vessel from the old human empire.  He needed to use it to capture the Dream Stalker (his other half), but it was currently full of daemons.  LOTS of daemons.  So T'Lann absorbed their power in a bid for ascension and Cydwin got the vessel.  This was a corner stone in a strange partnership ever since.
Another side effect, which seemed unimportant at the time, was Cydwin meeting Exaltier and Huroon.  He teamed up with them in a bid to destroy the most powerful of the creatures summoned by the Dream Stalker.  Although Cydwin had to sacrifice a decent part of his spirit and most of his magical items to form a bolt large enough to crack the creatures sheilding, they eventually prevailed.
