Wehn
- Hero of the Elven People and Vetran of thhe War of Shadows
Refugees:
Nask (Matt)
A refugee from the
old campaign, Nask had been around forever. He was basically the
result of way too many readings of the Salvatore novels. A drow ranger,
how... original. Anyway, he considered himself the pinnacle of stealth
(true enough) and a decent fighter (maybe). About 8th level when
this starts.
Fate: Death
by Kraken
Cranis (Matt)
A mage so deeply
entrenched in the old campaign, he basically needed to be entirely remodeled
from the top down. While I wasn't watching, he got all sorts of strange
abilities and whatnot. Even before he came over, it didn't make sense.
In the new campaign, a white (good, happy) necromancer with a hatred for
Silak Takur (god of annihilation).
Fate: player
dropped out of group
Gerald (Paul)
The most dastardly
of all things. A psycoportive psionicist *shudder*. The longest
lasting character I have ever been privvy to see, perhaps because he was
a psycoportive. He started out at first level on little solo adventures
(Krynn of all places), was moved over for the last few sessions of the
old campaign, then played this entire campaign. Paul occasionally
tried a different character, but they just had horrible luck. This
character was marked by greedy tendancies, especially early in the campaign.
He started this campaign at almost 10th level.
Fate: Survived,
Dual-classed to Mage and powerful in both, 2nd in the Illuminati
Stephan (Jim)
Stephan was almost
as much a survivor as Gerald, but because of hit points more than any propoderance
to retreat. Stephan was a greedy paladin with little respect for
any moral code. At one point in the old campaign the second GM had
given him two holy avengers. I managed to destroy one of them, but
not the intellegent one with 17 Int and "Teleport 1/week". He named
his bounded mount (a pegasus) Mr. Ed and early in the old campaign had
all 18s and an 18/00 strength, by "rolling them." At least by this
time he had a 13 and a few 15s. But not where it mattered.
He was 9th, but had just advanced.
Fate: Fell right
when his player was leaving anyway (drat) and just sort of faded from memory
The Priestess (Jim)
A character
no one could ever remember the name of. However, the every person
remembered
how in the last campaign she had charged a set fee for her healing spells,
especially when the party was in dire need. A priestess of Vulcan
(Greco-Roman God), she seemed to think she deserved +5 weapons (see ).
Luckily, all the magical weapons in the world didn't save her from the
Kraken.
Fate: Death
by Kraken
Early Characters:
Dwarven Bezerker (Ed)
No player ever went
through as many characters as Ed. The resons ranged from charging
into combat to simply growing tired of them. For about six characters
in the old campaign, he played muscle bound minotaur fighters. But
this was a character to be feared. He was 7th level or so, but he
rode a Cave Bear. That's right, Dwarven Barbarian. A fearsome
thing. Even if his best weapon was a stone axe +2.
Fate: Leg lopped
off by "The Cambion", retired
Unnamed Paladin (Ed)
Third shortest
lived character in my campaigns, one adventure (beginning to near end).
The other two were also set by Ed (5 minutes and 30 minutes, respectively).
Unlike Stephan, acted like a paladin. Shame to see her go.
Fate: Mauled
by Orc Shaman and Goblin Poison
Kain (Ed)
An elven monk
and guardian of Tempest. I beleive Kain was the longest lasting of
Ed's characters, but that wasn't more than three or four adventures.
However, he was insturmental in the party figuring out what was going on
when they were fooled into kidnapping the Elven Ambassador.
Fate: his protectee
moved away and he did shortly after (Marines)
Cydwin (Galen)
Started at the
same time as the Unnamed Paladin, Cydwin was probably the player that got
the most play time in this campaign. The sheer amount of soloing
was immense. In his search for meaning he ended up betraying the
two most powerful gods, destroyed several artifacts, helped one man ascend
to godhood, made pacts with seven different gods, advanced the theory of
magic by several generations, and traveled through time and realities.
It only got worse when he decided he wanted to do something. His
main source of power was the Lake of Dreams itself, as well as serving
as a home.
Fate: dispersed
essence into the Lake of Dreams in the process of creating Xyphael
Tamar (Galen)
A sort of uptight
paladin at first, ended up as a water spirit after an unfortunate series
of accidents. His career was cut abruptly short when Amanda left.
He was engaged on a mission with Cassandra and Galen didn't want to violate
reality to pull him out. Cydwin was his real focus anyway.
Fate: Eternal
Limbo
Kord (Galen)
Diametrically
opposed to Galen's other characters, Kord is a rowdy barbarian priest of
Chaos (specifically, cycle of death and rebirth). He becomes something
to fear by the end of the campaign and is the only surviving character
without some wizardly magic. Dissapeared sporatically from the end
of the campaign to forge things and prepare for ascension. He really
thinks the pantheon needs someone like him, especially after the Earth
and Fire gods were weakened so. No one knows how successful he will
be.
Fate: chillin
in his great temple, working towards divinity
Magi (Aaron)
Now this character
was sort of strange. He was an import from an old forgotten realms
campaign, around 13th level with a load of magical items. However,
I saw the effects of one of magical item and three spells in the duration
of the advantures he appeared in. One remove curse, one fly, one
disintigrate, and one whirlwind from staff of the magi. I still feel
justified allowing him to bring in an advanced character. The other
players didn't even realise it until he cast disitigrate. It was
on a door or something, too. I just don't understand.
Fate: retired
Guldan (Aaron)
A very quiet
Aaron character. A skeleton warrior (as per MM annual something or
other), bound to a circlet. Luckily, he wasn't around long enough
for me to have someone steal the circlet. He was too easy going for
that anyway.
Fate: dropped
out of campaign during general schism
Cassandra (Amanda)
Pretty good
for a first character, this druid ended up in the thick of the plot.
Unfortunatel, her player had to go to college right after she betrayed
the party. Such a spoil sport. Probably good, actually.
If she ever got a handle on what was going on, she could have kicked it
into high gear.
Fate: college
Tempest (Amanda)
A cute little
bronze dragon (or was she brass?). Anyway, by the time she became
involved a hatchling dragon was easily the weakest member of the party.
Even so, she did survive until Amanda left for college. Right in
the middle of a suicide/trap mission. Drat it!
Fate: college
The Githankai (Terry)
A very memorable
character, but the name still fails me. Had an obsession with the
spell "Turn Pebble to Boulder" and would use it at any opertunity, to the
exclusion of all else (players choice, not a GM inflicted insanity).
Was with the party for kicks.
Fate: player
moved : (
The Bard (Paul)
A very short
lived character. Started right before the party assaulted Kilan Tor,
and retired right after. Had a gem fused with the back of his neck
in an unfortunate encounter, but wasn't well liked to begin with.
Fate: retired,
gem still stuck in neck
Late Characters:
Wehn
(Marx)
Originally an
archer with the Elven Imperial Guard, Wehn turned coat to fight with Exaltier
and the rest. An absolutely deadly archer with the long bow, and
became a potent magi over the course of the campaign. Just wants
to wipe the smut of Malix from the planet and restore the old elven empire.
Fate: alive
and well, honorary General within the Elven Army, Master of the Four Stars
Xyphael (Galen)
A dracoform
(humanoid dragon) created from the Lake of Dreams when Cydwin sacrificed
his life. Xyphael soon proved to be adept in most types of magic,
especially rune magic and thread magic. He wishes to make the school
of abjuration something to fear. He also wants a few years to sit
and study, but thats just not happening.
Fate: alive
and serving within the Elven Empire
Very Recent Characters:
Barabus (Dan)
A warrior-priest
of Shadath, God of Shadows, Barabus works for the ideal of freedom.
His vision of freedom sometimes veers from the norm, but his work with
the priests of Arial and Shadath is well-respected. A sojourn into
the Lake of Dreams left him beholden to three gods (Shadath, Arial, and
Oroth), but his companions have negated that by fitting him with a collar
of unbreakable adamant that follows his movements.
Fate: alive
and serving the cause of Freedom
