2002
Got home on the 18th of December totally knackered. My mum had a little cry at the airport but I failed to show emotion as I was so jet-lagged. My folks had erected a welcome home banner and attached Christmas tree lights to it in the front garden. I put my rucksack down and felt so pleased to be back home.
December 18th 2001
Went out with the old posse and got lashed. I was sick at Millers Road. I felt like a novelty for a while and told everyone I'd had a great time. I was aware of other people who'd overdone it on the tales of travelling to kept it low-key and didn't start sentence's with "When I was in...".
The days leading up to Christmas were good. I was on such a buzz from being away and it was wicked to see all my friends again. Not much had changed in Brighton except The Glouchester is now called The Brighton Glouchester.Same sort of music. My jet-lag was starting to take hold by about the 21st.
Went to see Lord of the Rings with my sister and fell asleep half-way through. Annoyed my mum a bit by always going out and not spending enough time at home. She missed me loads (and who can blame her). I think I've made up for it now. My tropical fish tank looked more lively than ever. Full of baby Guppies. Had a wicked Xmas and New Year celebration. Didn't bother going clubbing. Instead just went to a house party at Emma's. Stu snogged Kerry. Relaxed to the max for a while. I still had some money left (albiet borrowed from my folks) so made the most of my time before thinking about getting a job.
I'm still here. They made me permanent after 2 weeks and now I'm an Admissions / Committee Officer. I was actually a student here for 3 months when I was 19 and the Sub-Dean (who is still here now) persuaded me that I was not going to pass so I left. He was right, I was a lazy git when I was 19. Not now though, eh?
When I was with Stu in Sydney I bet him 100 that I would not work at American Express this decade. What can I say but SHIT! After 2 hellishly oppressive months I quit with no job to go on to. I didn't care I just wanted out. Got a temping job with Office Angels working at Sussex University in an Admin job in Engineering.
I did a bit of thinking at Glastonbury. I remember, from when I'd been before, feeling that my life is just like the majority of lives. I'm a consumer. I felt the Eco-friendly tree hugging hippy urge so I've been buying more Organic stuff. Can't really afford it though.I want to do more but I'm a lazy hippy.
I do think that my life is going nowhere. I'm 27 and I'm single. I had to move out of my folks house before I became Ronnie Corbett in the sitcom Sorry. I'm now living with Georgina and Steve near the 7 Dials in Brighton and it's wicked. The summer is here (sort of) and I'm only 27. I shaved my beard off the other day.
I'm contributing to a Superannuation Pension Scheme now and I often get fartherly upges when I see kids. My mate Emma has an 18 month old kid, Josh has two kids now, Lindsay dropped about a month ago and my cousins 6 months pregnant. So any girls who want a baby I'd be more than happy to assist. ...
