KAYAKING

Adopt-A-Wetland Program Coordinators, Jay Tarkington and Kim Keplar, took us out to Rockport to kayak around the Estes Flats.  We learned the characteristics of saltwater marsh plants.  Some of the more common types of plants in this area are glassworts, saltworts, black mangroves, sea ox-eye daisy, and cordgrass.  We also discussed concerns about sea grass scarring and the impact of human activities on sea grass beds.
