 Embedded Operating System

Embedded OS, as proposed by the name, are ‘placed’ inside Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) and handheld computers, both of which share the characteristic of being small in size and mobile. The programs run by the OS are stored permanently on the Read-Only-Memory (ROM). Two widely used embedded OS are Palm OS and Windows CE. While Palm OS is an OS designed especially to run on PDA, Windows CE is designed to run on handheld computers.
