Situated within the central spire of the Jedi Temple was the fully-stocked Temple hangar bay. The hangar was filled with the Order's Jedi Starfighters, ready for take-off at a moment's notice. After the crisis at Naboo, the Jedi introduced the Delta-7 starfighter, and assigned one to each Jedi in the Temple. The hangar bay was created to house the ships. The compact space was efficiently used, with star- fighters lined along the inner circumference of the darkened chamber. To launch individual fighters, a retractable landing pad slid into position. The Temple also included tracking systems for its starfighters, and diagnostics to keep track of assigned starfighters. Delta-7's coded green were general-use, while red were for individual Jedi. Once a starfighter took off, the Jedi pilot would rendezvous with the group of hyperspace transport rings kept in orbit above Coruscant, which allowed the starfighter to blast into lightspeed. The Delta-7 could land at a number of other hangar bays within Jedi bases scattered throughout the Republic. As the Separatist crisis escalated, such outlying stations saw increased use. When the Delta-7 was introduced to the Jedi arsenal, it was quickly distributed to hangar facilities on Kamparas, Eriadu and elsewhere to better defend the Republic in the growing conflicts. |
