One of the largest rooms in the Jedi Temple, the Archives Library contained one of the largest repositories of information in the Republic. But while the Archives covered eighty percent of the galaxy, it was not as comprehen- sive as the Archive Director believed. The Archives Library usually only hosted a handful of visitors at any one time, though the extra space was needed for the massive wealth of information kept in the Temple. The Archives contained tens of thousands of holobooks in countless shelves that lined the narrow chamber. Workstations were fitted down the middle of the room, between the two tiers of glowing holo-books. Busts of famous Jedi past and present lined the shelves to aid in contemplation. The whole room was designed for this purpose, with the heigh ceiling and natural light filtering in from huge strained-glass windows creating a tranquil atmosphere. The Archives did not cover everything in the galaxy, and was not without its omissions or mistakes - though Madame Jocasta Nu often begged to differ. Though the workstations situated in the center of the Archives were capable of multiple searches on a vast number of different types of data, if an item had not been added to the Archives - or if it had been removed - it would not appear. Even though security checks were preformed regularly, items such as Kamino had been removed to keep the locations secret. However complete the Archives were, they proved too detailed to survive Emperor Palpatine's New Order. The records so carefully gathered over the millennia were lost, making the chances that such a repository could be put together again very slim. |
