Though most of the Jedi Order's one thousand Knights
were often away from the Temple on missions, there
were always at least two hundred stationed within its
walls, each with their own quarters used for meditation.

From the great balcony overlooking the Temple's
training areas, one could reach the modest apartments
of the most senior Jedi Masters. Though these rooms
were sparse - as were most rooms in the Temple -
they were functional. Cushions provided confort while
meditating on the galaxy's mysteries, while other
features of many of the rooms gave an office-like air to
them. Desks were placed in rooms for the senior Jedi Masters, and other pieces such as holo-projectors were made to fit in with the simple style of the rooms. Mace Windu's room seemed more formal than others, as his apartment was dominated by a large desk near one wall. Yoda's room, on the other hand, featured the bare minimum.

The apartments of Jedi Knights, Padawans and other trainees were also simple, uncluttered affairs. As personal possessions were left behind when a Jedi begun training, their rooms held little that distinguished the owner. Though the Temple was large enough to house many more than two hundred Jedi, Masters and Padawans shared a room, to allow their relationships to develop. There were a few rooms in the Temple which did not conform to the simplicity of the others. Anakin Skywalker's room was filled with machinery and droid parts, ready to be tinkered with in his spare time. This cluttered personal space reflected Anakin's reluctance to follow the rules of the Jedi, and that he perhaps did not want to commit fully to the Order.
