"We'll leave as soon as you're ready. Docking Bay 94" - Han Solo, ANH |
DOCKING BAY 94 Location: Mos Eisley, Tatooine Type: Open-air docking bay Owner: Mos Eisley authorities Used by: Han Solo (Millennium Falcon) Debut: A New Hope A simple docking bay amid a cluster of identical sand-blasted structures, Docking Bay 94 became something of a tourist attraction as it was the location from which the Millennium Falcon carried Luke Skywalker to his destiny. Without the fame, the docking bay itself is merely a large circular pit dug into the sandy bedrock, and reinforced with sandy-coloured walls. Fuels of varying kinds are stored in tanks around the edges of the docking bay, along with other necessities along the walls. Small repair parts and a do-it-yourself machine shop are available to those pilots who need them - though they also need a handful of credits. Basic refreshers are housed in the facility's rear walls, though they are only marginally maintained; most visitors wisely avoid using them. Next to the docking bay is a small customs building, though it is hardly used due to the lack of serious customs enforcement on Tatooine. Mostly the building is locked up and empty. Similar docking bays can be found all over Mos Eisley - ninety-seven to be precise, though most are either privately owned or are large enough only for a starfighter - as well as other spaceports on Tatooine, such as Mos Espa. However, since Docking Bay 94 was added to the 'Skywalker Tour' it has gained more and more fame. Set up by Tatooine's government after the Battle of Endor, the tour showed visitors many locations made famous by Luke Skywalker. |
