History of Ksatria Weyr

At the beginning of the Seventh Pass, all was well for the first fourty five turns, until disaster struck. A rogue groundquake decimated Benden Weyr, leaving it a crumpled heap of rock. Luckily, it hit during Threadfall, do most of the dragonriders were spared, but the majority of the grounds crews and weyr staff were killed, as well as most of the junior weyrlings, though the gold, two greens and a bronze were lucky.

Heartbroken, the dragonriders dispersed throughout the five remaining weyrs, saddened. As the Seventh Interval rolled around, the five weyrs were becoming cramped and tight. The Weyrleaders proposed a new weyr to be bulit-in the South. By this time, Benden's original Weyrwoman was long past middle age, so three golds-one who originated at Benden, one from Telgar and the third from Igen were sent to explore, and the young Igen goldrider found a perfect spot-a cove with plenty of flat land, where the dragons could sleep outside. But the three young women made a discovery here: firelizards! They brought back a dozen eggs and hid dozens more, to bring back later. Soon almost everyone on Pern had a firelizard.

Construction began immediately and was done 15 turns into the Interval. But a weyr was not the only thing being built. The holders were fed up with Ruatha-the hold was falling apart and the worthless Lord Holder refused to do anything about it. A grandson had given up on his grandsire and founded three small holds in the South to accompany the weyr, being voted Lord Holder of the largest-Brahmana. he, however, helped to dedicate the first Dolphin Hall on Pern at Sudra sea Hold, after he hit his head and fell into the water. The sleek grey bodies saved him, and all of Pern learned that the ship-fish were really as intelligent as they were.

It was not long after Senior Weyrwoman Amira's Winimyth rose making her Senior Weyrwoman of Ksatria Weyr, tragedy had befallen the weyr when Threadfall came a couple of days after the flight, as the pair came out of between to avoid Thread they collided with another pair. Winimyth and Amira disappeared between and the weyr went into mourning but not before her Junior Weyrwoman Marya accepted a transfer away from Ksatria Weyr to become Sr. Weyrwoman at another weyr. The leadership of the weyr fell onto the shoulders of a single gold weyrling due to graduate and with her Queen's maiden flight to soon officially place her in position of Senior Weyrwoman. Gynna who wasn't out of weyrlinghood and confident enough to take the position of Weyrwoman quickly requested another more experienced gold from the other weyrs to be transferred in to fill in the spot of Acting Senior Weyrwoman pending whose gold rose first to help her out till any future golds could be clutched and secure the future of the dragon population at the weyr.

With the Weyrleadership falling onto the shoulders of the newly-transferred Melyna and her Queen's maiden flight to determine a new Weyrleader, the weyr awaits expectantly the result of Orlaith's clutch in hopes that a Queen egg will grace the sands once more.

Currently, two golds reside at Ksatria-the newly-transfered Senior Queen-Orlaith, and the soon to be mature-Iriselath. These two are the ones slated to help produce more dragons for the newly arrived Eighth Pass.
