Vili was born 1991. He goes to his 5th year at school, plays football and is really good at computer games. He is well and healthy, thank God. Vili has been through a lot being our oldest. I can't say he's had a happy childhood. There's been an awful lot of crying in our family.
Our first daughter, Veera, was born 1992. She is severely brain-injured due to an unknown reason. The doctors told us that it was alright to have more children, because Veera's sickness wasn't genetic. We were told that Veera had probably been infected by Cytomegalo virus during my pregnancy. Veera is deaf, blind and unable to move herself. She is fed by a tube placed in her belly. She has a medicine-resistant epilepsy and has dozens of seizures a day. She was placed to an institution for disabled children in age of 3 years, the day that our second son Vertti died.
Our youngest son, Vinski was born in July 1999. During the pregnancy I was convinced that something was wrong again. The baby wasn't moving very much and my belly was too small. Now it is obvious that he was similarily brain-injured as Veera. I didn't get eye-contact with him and his limbs were very immobile. He was spastic and had several epileptic seizures daily. He lacked the frontal lobes of his brain and had microcephaly. Vinski died peacefully, but very unexpectedly at home on Nov 26.2000. He was 16 months and is now buried beside his "big"brother, Vertti. Vinski died of pneumonia.
Vertti was only 18 months when he died and he was the ligt of my life! The day Vertti died was very sunny and beautiful. It was the last day of May and the summer was just starting to show. It was just an ordinary day. I was preparing evening meal and Vertti was playing behind me. Suddenly I heard a crash, and when I turned around I saw Vertti lying on the floor under a fallen TV. He didn't move at all. Vertti died some hours later in hospital not getting conscious again. I still start shaking every time I see or hear the ambulance. My husband's mother died of cancer the same day, a few hours later. He lost his son and his mother during the same day...
Our younger daughter,Viivi, was born less than a year after Vertti died. She had severely malformed clubfeet and was operated twice before her 1st birthday. She wore plasters from hip to toe for 18 months. The plasters were replaced in anesthesy 1- 4 times every month! If it had been 10 years earlier she would have been put on a wheelchair. Viivi is very lucky to be able to walk and run like any other girl. One more operation may be needed in the future, though
OUR 6 CHILDREN:
Our son, Veeti, was born 1998. I guess, he looks a lot like Vertti: same blond, curly hair and dimples on his cheek, same smiley eyes and always in a hurry running from a place to another -and oh my, ... he talks all the time!
WAIT! That was not all! I still have more pages in my website. Some are still under work, but I would be honored if you'd visit some more pages...and don't forget to sign my guestbook! I'd like to know you've been here!
