| VINSKI ELMO JULIUS When Vinski was born I suspected that everything wasn't right. The nurses and doctors at the maternity hospital saw nothing wrong with him, but I thought he looked and acted a lot like Veera (my 7-year old severely brain-injured daughter). He didn't open his eyes and had little "nods" like Veera did when she was born (they were epileptic seizures). When Vinski was 2 days I was sure of what I saw and asked a doctor to see me. He took a good look at Vinski and after a while he said that Vinski looks normal, only his head is a little smaller than average. I demanded on having EEG, but he said that maybe after about a month if, at home, I still thought that something was wrong. Well, I didn't settle with that, because I was very sure of myself. So, they took the EEG, and the result was abnormal. Vinski spent 3 weeks at the intensive care unit, but they couldn't say what was wrong with my baby... I breastfed Vinski for 5 months. I would have liked to continue much longer, but Vinski had to stay in hospital for two long periods and I couldn't be there all the time. I cried, because Vinski is our last baby and I just couldn't stand the fact that I never would breastfeed again... So, Vinski has a severe brain-injury, he has medicine-resistant epilepsy, he can't see and he has gained no abilities. |
| Vinski was born July 27.1999 with unknown brain-injury. He died Nov 26. 2000 peacefully while I was feeding him his breakfast. He was blind and had severe epilepsy with dozens of seizures a day. He was spastic (stiff) and had microcephaly (small head). He didn't grab toys and didn't know how to move his limbs.. I was hoping one day he would gain some abilities, although the promises were not good. |

When Vinski was 2 days I was convinced of my suspections, so I asked the doctor to take a good look at him. He examined Vinski very carefully. After about an hour he told me that in his opinion Vinski seems to look like a normal, healthy baby. Only his head is a little smaller than average, but I shouldn't worry about it. I demanded on having EEG of Vinski's head, but the Dr thought it would be needless. Well, I didn't settle with that, because I was very sure of myself. I refused to leave home before Vinski was examined throughly. So, they took the EEG, and the result was abnormal. Vinski spent 3 weeks at the intensive care unit, but they didn't find out what was wrong with my baby... They just sent me home with him. So, Vinski has a severe brain-injury, he has medicine-resistant epilepsy, he can't see and he has gained no abilities. |
