CAN OWEN CONTINUE SCORING FROM HERE

02.10.02          Archive                                                                                      Previous Page

The scums (Man U) have won again and poor old Sir Bobby Robson, I think it is very difficult for them now. But I don't really care anyway, these results have no bearing on my beloved Liverpool's game with Spartak Moscow tonight.

I guess those stupid journalists must be eating their words now by criticising Owen on his scoring form prior to the Man City game. In fact, I picked Man City to win because of the Anelka factor and partly because of Schmeichel. I was glad that I was proven wrong by Owen finally scoring from open play. I remembered that in some games last year, he did not even have a shot on goal. This season, however, he has been getting the chances, but without much luck, kept missing by a whisker until last Saturday. His luck in that game was typified by his 3rd goal which went in off the post. It would have gone out if it was earlier in the season. Let's hope that his luck has turned from here!

Henchoz, still a concern, do not mind Traore standing in as his confidence and stability would build up with more games. Remember Carragher few years ago? He was just like Traore, a bundle of nerves. Look at him now! We do need more quality defenders rather than be too dependent on the current lot if anyone else get injured or suspended.

Midfield-wise, guess GH won't change the usual suspects. Noticed that Stevie G has not reached his top form yet in the Man City game, although he contributed to the 2 Owen's goal. How awesome would he be if his form bettered?

Striker? Let's forget about Heskey, he is a "left-back" now. Baros would form a good partnership with Owen and Diouf an able back-up for the moment as he would take time to settle.

Lets turn our attention to Spartak Moscow. Read in Teamtalk that they are in a disarray state currently with their top striker banned after refusing to play and their skipper and another key player injured. Don't know much about the rest of the team, but its good news for Liverpool.

No live telecast (in Singapore) on ESPN or Channel 5 tonight, will wake up early in the morning to surf the net.

Ciao
