Perspectives on Healing

About two years ago the Lord spoke to me concerning two points on health and healing.

The first was this: "If your going to eat like an Egyptian, then you're going to die like one!"

Secondly, He told me to say, "tell my people I'm tired of having them treated like a

Brazilian rain forest."

Those word, of course, took me back on my heals!

1) Eating Like the World - Like Egyptians

Christians in America live, unfortunately, by many unbiblical assumptions. And concerning food, American Christians generally eat as poorly as the surrounding culture, and consequently suffer the same diseases. This is one example of what I call "The Egyptian effect."

I live in a hospital/clinic town. For whatever reason, we have this massive medical complex, with hundreds of doctors, sitting out here in the middle of nowhere. The parking lots are filled daily. In my frequent visits to the place, I often see well dressed people with large black cases entering the clinic. These are the drug salespeople. There is a constant flow of them into the clinic. Up the street from me is a McDonald's, and its parking lots are full most of the time, too. Is there a connection?

We really are what we eat! Let me give you an example. I have a dear, close brother in the Lord who was a manic depressive most of his life. Three years ago I saw him in May at his youngest daughter's wedding , and due to the drugs he was taking, he was overweight, clammy faced and acting like a virtual zombie. I went home and wept and prayed for him. I got a call from him that next September. When I saw him I got the shock of my life. He was fifty pounds lighter, and in his right mind. What had happened? What did he do?

HE CHANGED HIS DIET! He got a book by an author who has her Phd. in nutritional addictions. The main culprits in his diet that contributed to his problems turned out to be sugar and carbohydrates. Manic depressives appear to be very sugar sensitive. With a change to a higher protein diet, years of torture came to an end for him. Remarkable!
