SLEEP
DILEMMA
Imagine
a situation where u have to get up in the morning 6'o clock.what
will be u'r reaction .Will u get up or not .I don't know about
you but I sure know about myself .I won't . Not even if u say
that the world is gonna end . Hell with the world . But you see
things are not always good for such a person . There are "mature"
people in this world who think otherwise . So what do you do with
them . "co-operate ". Don't ask me how . But I sure
can tell u the attempt I made for getting up early in the morning
for my NIIT classes in mumbai.
My
classes where on 7.30 and the main centre was about 2 hours away
from my residence . So inorder to reach that place I have to move
by 5.30 . and I hour to get ready for it . So inthe end it comes
to around 4.30 . Can u believe getting up so early . No I can't
and I didn't . The result I used to reach classs late every day
.And I never bothered to change until one day I got a project
in NIIT . The project was in personality development . I was supposed
to select a problem of mine and then solve it . The first and
the only thing that came to my mind is getting late . and for
the fIrst time in my life I decided to give it a try ( to solve
my problem ).
First
I tought of sleeping early so that I can get up early . Result
was that I got two extra hours for sleeping .so I dropped that
idea . Next and the only option left was to buy an alarm clock
. So I went to a shop and asked for a clock that can even wake
up a dead man . A real metal alram clock.
First
day , I slept with clock beside me.and next day morning it rocked
the entire locality with its terriffic noise . good thing . Second
day also success was observed . But the third day something unexpected
happened . I got up and pressed the silence button of the clock
and went to sleep again .This repeated for two days . So after
the second day of failure I decided to try another plan . The
plan was to change the position of the clock .
From
my near-my-hand to near -my-feet . Now if the alarm rings I have
to be in sitting position to switch it off . But the result was
failure . U know why ? Because I used my feet to switch it off
the very next day itself . So I thought of another plan . The
plan was real mean .But I decided to implement it . U know there
is a table two to three feet away from my bed . The plan was to
keep this clock on the table so now if the alarm ring I have to
get up personally , then I should walk to the table inorder to
switch it off .This process can even wake up a dead man .
And
guess what? It ---- worked ------ .It worked so perfectly that
I stopped using it .
In
the end I evaluated my behaviour and found out even though I was
performing a lot of activities for changing I was not willing
to change inside & ...that led to the failure . so the moral
of the story is that u cannot change unless u want to change .
