The Lyceum Museum

Introduction

“What great and just cause is to keep memory,

to preserve memory, to enrich memory…Thank you.”

(From the Museum’s Book of Responses)

The Museum in Klovskiy Lyceum No.77 was founded in 1979 when the first exposure was at display.

The museum has been replenished with documents, photographs, letters and other reliquiae of the epoch for more than twenty years.

These were our  pupils, teachers, graduates of different years to gather collections for the school museum. Numerous surveys, searches for those living and graves of the dead, letters to organizations and individual people, notes of the conversations, film shooting, collecting personal school staff of past years, all these were part of  that difficult work carried out by these people.

The museum is the result of the team-work that is why we call it our museum. Today it counts more than 3 000 displays.

Kateryna Netyosina, teacher at the Arsenal Secondary School. 1906.

Our Lyceum is more than a hundred years old.

Its history reflects all the events happened in the twentieth century. Everything, what has happened is the world and in our country, passed through the lives of our graduates and teachers.

The museum keeps memory about everybody who have studied and taught, about his or her thoughts and aspirations,  love and work, participation in the country’s defence.

Our museum is alive. Its activity is closely connected with the flow of modern life. The Museum Council contacts with the President Council of the lyceum.

We organize meetings with the school graduates, help and support the veteran teachers and the Great Patriotic war veterans, stage plays about our teachers’ and pupils’ destiny.

The school historical theatre and its best work “Mental anguish” have grown out of  the school museum.

Our museum is not just a school museum, but a museum of school history. A museum means preservation of  the memory in times, saving the culture.

Up to the centennial of the Klovskiy Lyceum #77 on October, 1, 2000 a new exposition had been opened. A renovated museum was solemnly opened. Among the present at the grand opening of the museum our teachers and pupils were present together with our guests – graduates and former teachers.

There is a permanent exposition, picture gallery, video club "Growth" attached to the school museum.

On May, 18 we celebrate International Museum Day.
