Main information

Foundation year: 1900. (Since 1934 it is Secondary School #77, given a new name of Klovskiy Lyceum #77 in 1995).

Education term: 11 years (forms 1 to 11).

Education is free.

There are free after-school groups providing opportunities for junior school pupil to stay after classes looked after.

There are no fee-paying classes. All additional services for the improvement of the educational process and after-class working system are charitable.

Average number of pupils is 30-35 per class.

A school canteen is always open. There is always a set meal on a menu.

In forms 1 – 4 pupils have a five-day week. Lessons start at 8.30a.m., end at 12 or 1p.m. Forms 5 – 11 study six days a week from 8.30a.m. till 3p.m. 

After-class studies take place from 3 till 7p.m.

100% of 2002 graduates entered colleges and universities.

Klovskiy Lyceum #77 is a state educational establishment.

Several foreign languages are taught at Klovskiy Lyceum #77. They are:

  1. Profound study of English in all forms:

  • Four hours in forms 1 – 4

  • Five hours in forms 5 – 7

  • Six hours in the 8th forms

  • Seven hours in the 9th forms

  • Eight hours in forms 10  - 11

  1. French, German and Korean are taught in grades 5 to 11 two times per week.

Other foreign languages like Polish and Italian are optional.

There is a computer class at school for pupils of different ages.

Pupils of ages 6 till 17 (18) study at Klovskiy Lyceum #77. In the Junior School there are about 300 pupils between the ages of 6 and 11 (forms 1 to 4). There is a special building for them. 

The Senior School has over 640 pupils aged 11 to 17 (forms 5 to 11).In the forms 8 to 11 there is the subdivision into two departments: ‘humanities’ and ‘math & natural sciences’.

In forms 1 to 4 present-day programs of study are included in the curriculum. The Program of developing education, complex program of studying aesthetics including courses of foreign literature and literature for children, fine arts, arts and crafts etc.

Subjects studied in forms 5 to 11 include Ethics, World Culture, Computer science, English and American Literature, Country study etc.

Russian is taught in forms 2 to 11.

Highly qualified teachers, candidates of science and foreign teachers work in Klovskiy Lyceum #77 to provide the opportunity for clever and talented pupils to get elite education of  the highest level.

The lyceum’s teaching stuff strives to constant changes, they work on elaboration and probation of new effective methods and forms of teaching, using modern school supplies, English and American courses.

Our students have high standard of knowledge, annually many of them get the first prizes in contests held among students in Kyiv. All the graduates continue their education in the best universities in Kyiv and abroad.

Klovskiy Lyceum keeps in touch with some Kiyv universities and scientific institutions, collaboration treaties have been concluded.

Out-of-class activities

Various out-of-class activities activities are the part of school life in Klovskiy Lyceum #77.

1/3 of  pupils of the Lyceum are the members  of one of three choruses, which often win the first prize in the city contest “Crystal Chestnut” .

After classes the pupils are always welcomed at various circles. The most popular of them are sporting groups (Acrobatic rock-n-roll, Free calisthenics, lawn tennis), traveling, study of local lore etc.

Among the most popular pupil clubs is a debating club  “Pandora” and “Brain ring”.

There is a museum of Klovskiy Lyceum history with a valuable collection of documents telling about the Lyceum’s history, about the lives of our pupils and teachers, gathered during the century.

Holidays

There are some traditional holidays celebrated at Klovskiy Lyceum #77. They are:

  • September, 1 – The First Bell ring Day

  • Initiation into being the Lyceum pupil

  • The Lyceum’s birthday

  • Remembering those pupils and teachers who died during the WWII – May, 8th

  • International Museum Day – May, 18th

  • Graduates’ Meeting

  • The Last Bell ring Day
