Who then is Willing? A look at Our Service to God in the coming year
1st Chronichles 29 3 Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
4 Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal:
5 The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD? David's affection was toward the house of God. He had a true love for it. He was willing to give of his gold and his treasures for the Lords house but David needed help. He needed those who were willing to do what they knew how to do, what they were skilled at , to do the work that needed to be done. He was providing the materials but he needed those who were willing to work. Our Lord has provided us all things that we need to work for him today. If we are part of his kingdom and his church we all have a work to do. Davids affection was on the house of God. Our heavenly father loved this world so much that he sent his own son to die for us and Jesus himself willingly laid down his life for us. Such great affection! Greater love hath no man than this, than a man lay down his life for his friends. Our Lord made the greatest sacrifices for us and for his church. What are we willing to sacrifice? As we wrote earlier our life is not our own anymore. We all have a work to do. I met a man once who loved God and wanted to be a missionary, however, he felt he was not gifted at teaching nor was he called to be a minister. This man however was a very skilled mechanic. Finally he determined that he would become a field missionary and offer his service overseas in a country where he could go and assist the missionaries when they had any mechanical or technical difficulties, he would be there to take care of that so the missionary could consentrate on his teaching and ministry. His affection was set on that goal and sure enough, God made it possible for him to go. Taking wife and children with him and leaving all he had here he went to Venezuela and that is where they still remain today. His heart was not on himself but on God's service and what he could do for the Lord. I know it is not meant for us all to leave the country and do these things but it all goes back to where our affections are. We all have something we can do for God. We all have some talent. If you can sing, sing for the Lord, if you can play an instrument praise him with that talent. Perhaps there is something you are very good at that you can volunteer your time to help others learn. All things work together for good to those that love God. No matter how big or small.
If you have something to offer do not hesitate to use that for God's glory. He will greatly bless you for it. You will be happy if you follow what God bids you to do.If you are not sure what to do ask God to give you something to do. Be willing to consecrate your service this day unto the Lord. How is your affection towards Gods house? Are you a faithful member? When there is a reason such as health or sickness where one is not able to go out to the House Of God, God understands these things. These are valid reasons. If we are taking care of a sick loved one or some emergency comes up those are valid reasons. car trouble etc is a reason but just because its your only day off or your only day to do this or that is an excuse. Our affection should be toward the house of God. We should be there. If we are seeking to please and serve God in every way we will want to be there. Where is your affection once again? Sometimes you may have attended places where you felt cold or unwanted.Ive been there. That is no reason to give up. Keep searching, keep praying.God will guide you somewhere where you can be of service and where you can worship together. That fellowship is sweet. The church can or should be a great support group. A family working together. I know you don't find that everywhere today but that doesn't mean it isn't there. I know there has been times people have been hurt in church, these things should not happen but occassionally do, Ive been there, but still I didn't give up and neither should you. We are very happy where we are now but sometimes it takes time to find the place God has for you. If we depend on his guidance and be determined not to let others hinder us then God will lead us where he wants us and needs us. Sometimes these things happen to make us stronger, it isn't meant for us to quit and give up. Never lose hope. There is a place for you. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25) There is a great misunderstanding of the word assembling. There is a difference between a gathering and an assembling. When we give our son a bicycle for instance it may come with instructions that read "some assembly required" . Assembling we then need to realize is coming together for one purpose for one goal, to work together for God's service. If we have all the parts to a jet plane but those peices are just gathered in a pile no one will ever be able to use it to fly, however when assembled then it can soar to great heights at great speeds. It's called working together. It is important for us to be there. We are members of the body of Christ. If all my bodies organs were working but one organ decided to sleep late it could cause disruption throughout the whole body. Take a car with three wheels, when one is missing then the car cannot effectively run without tearing up some other things. David brought the gold and all the supplies to where? Peoples houses? Nope. It says to the house of God didn't it? Yep! And then he asked the question who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord? To whom? Not our selves but to the lord. Who then is willing? Is this going to make you happy? Well let's just read on and see what happened here.... Then the people rejoiced, for they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the King also rejoiced with great joy. (Verse 9) Our willing service to God can bring us joy friends but in the above scripture not only did it bring the people happiness but it made the King rejoice. Oh to make the King rejoice! Is our God rejoicing from the life we are living or have we brought to much dissapointment and sadness. We will all fail to a point because we are human but we must always strive for perfection the word teaches us. We can please God if we are willing. We can be happy if we are willing , we can make the king rejoice if we desire to, if that is where our heart's affection is. Who then is willing?? God wants you to be happy. He longs to rejoice with you. There are so many rewards just awaiting for you! Much more happiness and satisfaction than the world and it's pleasures can give. Do you want to have a hppy New Year? Who then is willing? We hope you will continue with us as we look to scripture for guidance to a happy New Year.Check back for our next page.
