Introduction: For A happy New Year

A look at The New year through a Christian's perspective.

As the old year is winding to a close and a New Year lies ahead of us I hope to examine some biblical scriptures of Guidance for all of us to experience a happy and prosperous New year.

I hope that you will read along with us each day and reflect on each message in each scripture and let God's word guide you in every part of your life this coming year.

God wants us to be happy. What do you want in this coming year? What are your hopes? Alot of us make what is called our New year resolutions at this time each year and I hope that we can reflect upon this from a Christians perspective.

what is a resolution?

websters defines it as : A resolve or determination. Most of the time it is to start a new diet or to make what we feel is a needed change. These things are all good. We should all strive to live a healthier lifestyle but what is often left out of resolutions is our spiritual life. Most resolutions we undertake usually fail, most of the times, eventually we will go off of that diet or stop exercising as much, lets face it it is just human nature to fall short of our goals from time to time because we are not perfect.

Health resolutions are important but I feel what is most important of all is our spiritual well being. Have we as Christians given any thought to our spiritual health for the new year? It is something we all need to do.

What is most important to you? What are the things that you have been focusing on for the New year?

I hope by going through daily scriptures that help us to focus on what God wants for us in the New year will not only bring about spiritual growth and chages but I hope you discover that when we focus on the things of God first in our lives then with his help we can achieve all other Necessary things.

Are you Happy? We all say "Happy New year" to each other . That is a wish we all have as human beings is to be happy. We cannot make ourselves happy. We can buy the best that money can buy, have the finest houses, own land, drive a new car each year will that make us happy? Some people really think these things will but the answer is no. Will having lots of money make you happy? No, The bible says the love of money is the root of all evil.

If we have been saved God is our first love, have we forgotten or left our first love? We have all failed him. But still his love and forgiveness is still there. He loves us unconditionally.

Some look for happiness in material things or relationships. The bible plainly tells us that if we seek first the kingdom of God and his rigteousness that all of these other things will be added unto you. Whatever descisions you may be about to make in your life, have you asked God for his direction or guidance or are you trying to go on your own thinking to make yourself happy?

We cannot leave God out. I believe it is important to seek God's will in any descisions we make. Let God guide us because we will mess up if we try to find happiness on our own. Alot of times we realize that what we think will make us most happy is not part of God's plan for our lives. Again...seek God first and his wisdom and direction will not lead you wrong.

Can a Christian be happy when out of God's will. No Can one find forgivesnes for their disobedience and find God's will? Yes

What is God's will for your life? Have you really searched this out? Or do you have everything already planned out? If so, stop, take a second look, pray over the things that you are contemplating, seek guidance from above, make sure it is what God wants for you.

What God wants for us in the New year is what will be best for us. He knows what is best, he's always right, we are not alwqays right. The bible teaches us that there are ways that seemeth right unto a man but in the end therof there is death.

I once met a young man from the Phillipinnes who had came to our country to study the bible. Foreign missionaries were being beaten and physically forced to leave his country. Here he was in our country where he could have chose to stay but his heart was with his people. His concern was not for himself and seeking his own pleasures but for the souls of his countrymen, his family and friends. His resolve was to come to our country to learn more so that he could go back and become a missionary himself to his own country. He spoke in front of a large congregation and he said these words I will never forget. He said he was asked if he was afraid for his life and why didn't he want to stay in our country where he would be safe, His answer was this : I have found and I know that the safest place one could ever hope to be is in the center of God's will. Amen!

His resolution was to be a help. His resolution was to be of service to his God and to his people. What is your New year resolution?

I hope that it will be for us all to seek what God would want for us in 2005.
