Our Bread from Heaven: God can supply your needs

Feeding The sheep, feeding the multitudes and being fed by the Lamb of God;The bread of life

As we have been discussing this month, there is happiness when we are found in the center of God's will and doing the work that he would have us to do.

Are we doing what God would have us to do? That is a very important question to examine ourselves with as we begin this New Year.

Jesus told Peter to feed his sheep and to feed his lambs. God's word teaches us to work while it is day.

And here we read where there was a multitude of Hungry people and only a few loaves and fishes. When the disciples asked Jesus what they should do, Jesus could have made a plate of food appear in front of everyone but instead he told his disciples to give them something to eat.

Of course they knew they only had a little but the lord told them to bring that to him and after he blessed it he handed it to them to distribute to the people.

He provided what was needed but he gave the disciples a part in getting that much needed nourishment to those people, showing forth to us today that we have a work to do. Many are hungry today for the meat of the word. We need to be carrying that every day in our life , in our daily walk.

LET US READ THE SCRIPTURE BELOW TOGETHER

Matthew 14: 16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. 17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. 18 He said, Bring them hither to me. 19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. 21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

Notice it said " And they did all eat". The disciples we no doubt hungry too but when they started obeying God's word not only did they have a part in feeding the others but they received their part also.

Read with me the scripture here in psalms 37:3

Trust in the Lord , and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

There are blessings from our obedience. We may think there is no way that we can do what needs to be done but as we have already discussed "With God all things are possible"

All we can do is just what the disciples did that day: They gave what they had to God, the little lad's lunch was used to fill a multitude because he was willing to give it and the disciples brought that and gave it to the Lord and he gave the increase.

If we will only be willing to do what we can then God can give the increase. He will provide what we need.

It is not God's will that any go hungry. If we have eaten from the bread of life then we need to share that as much as possible.

He is our bread from Heaven: John Chapter 6 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Have you tasted this bread from Heaven? Do you have eternal life?

If you haven't that is the bread to seek .

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6)

If we have eaten from that bread of life, there is a table set before us. We need to share what God has given us. What we do can be a help to others, and we may never know it.

We heard a wonderful sermon the other night concerning the scripture in Proverbs11 Cast thy bread upon the waters; for thou shalt find it after many days. Our bread is the gospel. God says that his word will not return void. We are to cast it upon the waters..the multitudes. Another good thought was to not exclude anyone. Sometimes we tend to only foicus on people in our little group or circle but Jesus loves everyone , even those that are the hardest to love, we need to cast our bread to them too...they need it. If we don't who will? When you have the opportunity to do something, do it.

In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whither shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

Ecclesiastes 11:6

We never know when we do something just what God will acomplish with it. Just look what he did with just one small meal, he fed a multitude with it! All because someone was willing to give it and others were willing to work a little to distribute it. Little is much when God is in it.

I truly hope you have been blessed by today's lesson. I hope that it will be nourishment that will feed your soul and help you and encourage you to go another mile. Our hope and prayer is to be a help to you in this New Year. We hope to see you happy and prosperous and growing each day.
