Happy Father's Day

Because of WWII we did not see
each other until I was 3 years old

I Still Talk To My Daddy

My daddy has been gone
for many years now
And yet when something special
happens to me,
I need to tell him about it.
I talk to him secretly
feeling sure he hears me
and is giving me that smile of approval or
that frown of disapproval
and it always give me joy
share with him.
He is with our Heavenly Father
and if I know him, he is rejoicing
because there is no more pain in his body
and there is that special relationship
he shares with his earthly parents and brother
in heaven
as he awaits us to join him.

Falling in Love With A Baby

I saw my tough, cool, macho son
fall in love with a baby this week

I saw my somewhat arrogant son
come apart when the baby cried this week

I saw my son melt with tenderness
when he watch the baby nurse this week.

I saw my son overcome with joy
when the baby smiled while sleeping

I saw my rather fastidious son
change a diaper this week.

I saw my son
become a father.
