Teak House

The land we bought was rather low and prone to flooding in that area.  We had 3 feet 3 inch (1 meter) of dirt fill brought in to the land and then had a 3 foot 3 inch high foundation put around the dirt fill.  On top of the foundation we had a 6 foot 6 inch wall (2 meters) erected on the foundation.  The wall is topped with a foot tall series of iron spikes. This is a common practice in Thailand.

After the wall was in we needed a building on the lot in order to get water and power meters for the property.  We found a place that reconditioned old style Thai teak houses and put them up on your land---so we bought a small one.

The little teak house has nice porches on two sides and came with a matching gazebo. Both of these are great places to sit and watch the fruit ripen on cool evenings in Thailand--although a cool evening in Thailand is rare.

The picture below was before any landscaping was done.

This picture was after a bit of landscaping was done. Today (9/29/2004) the landscaping is quite mature and we

have had fruit from the mango and star fruit trees.
