In February 2000 my sister (who lives in Palm Desert, CA--just south of Palm Springs, CA) informed me of a great deal on a home on a golf course in Palm Desert. I was at my home in Bangkok at the time and was interested in property in California.
My sister put me in touch with a real estate agent who Fax-ed me information and pictures of the place and we made an offer--sight unseen. All of the paperwork to purchase the home was done by Fax--me in Thailand and the escrow etc. in California.
In March 2000, Pha and I left Bangkok for a game park safari in South Africa and two weeks later we arrived in the USA for a first look at our golf course home. It was all we expected --and more.
We plan to spend 3 or 4 months at our Palm Desert home (where I will try to improve my golf game) and then split the rest of the year between Bangkok and our condo at the beach in Pattaya.
