Title: Data Base Administrator (DBA)

Responsible for data base administration for an ORACLE relational data base and mapping system. This data base is used by the geoscientists and geotechnical personnel in UNOCAL's Louisiana/Gulf Business Unit. The data base covers the entire Gulf of Mexico area.
The DBA is responsible for the data base strategy policies for the business unit and asset teams and provides advice and counsel to the Asset Managers and Exploration groups in this business unit regarding data base matters.. The DBA insures that the data base is secure and backed up for disaster recovery purposes. The DBA also insures that data can be exchanged with other applications on other platforms and operating systems.

Conversion of this ORACLE version 6 data base to ORACLE version 7 (and ORACLE Forms version 3 to version 4) is also part of the DBA's responsibility.
Coordinating training for ORACLE, UNIX, ORACLE Forms ,and other related applications, for the geoscientists and geotechnical personnel is an ongoing responsibility.
I have been working with Windows 95/98 on my home PC and with Internet WWW access and creating web pages for personal publication and for companies Intranet use.
1991- 1993
Title: UNOCAL's Western Region Information Systems Manager
Reported to: Vice President -Western Region
Responsible for all the IS service in the 4 UNOCAL Western Region district offices and the Regional Office.
Three LAN's and a Remote Access system to the WAN was included in the LAN/WAN system in Western Region.
Responsible for the IS budget for this Business unit and direct supervision of the IS staff. Provided IS advice to senior management on the organization and technical details of the IS infrastructure in the Business Unit.
An intensive training program for networked PC applications was set up and completed in 1992.
An IS support team was set up and a District Computer Coordinator was assigned to the
districts in the organization reporting to the IS Manager..
Telecommunication hardware and maintenance were also coordinated by the Regional IS staff.
Was a team member on a task force to out source the Voice and Data network for the entire company.
Was the team leader for a team whose charter was to develop system administration and management policies and procedures for the company's UNIX computing environment.

1985-1991
Title: Director, Computer Services
Reported to: President, UNOCAL Thailand
Directed the Computer Services Department which consisted of two mainframes, a mini computer and
a Word Processing system. The Computer service department provided service to all departments within UNOCAL Thailand including, the Accounting Department, Exploration Department, Production Department and Administration Department.
Directly supervised the IS department staff which consisted entirely of Thai Nationals (25 people). Provided training and integrated the Thai staff into supervisory positions within the Computer department.
Responsible for the Capital and Expense budget for the Computer Department which ranged from 2-4 million US dollars per year depending on capital expenditures for the year.
Organized the Computer Services Department into 4 groups as follows:
The Financial Programming group wrote and maintained their own accounting programs (based on UNOCAL's system) and ran production accounting jobs and reports. This group also wrote and maintained an inventory system, a preventative maintenance system and a personnel and payroll system. All of these systems were written and maintained by the Financial Programming staff.
The Scientific Programming group supported the technical needs of the Exploration and Production departments by maintaining data bases and prepared plotted output from both mainframe systems on two Electrostatic plotters.
The Systems Programming group provided mainframe systems support to the Computer Services department.
The word processing system was also maintained by the Computer Services group.
A PC products Training group was set up and in house training on all the standard PC products was performed by this new group.
In 1989 the first of the LAN's was installed at UNOCAL Thailand by the Computer Services department and the older Word Processing system was phased out when the complete LAN system was installed (10 LAN's including 4 off shore) This project was coordinated very closely with the telecommunications group that reported to another department head.

1983-1985
Title: Geophysical Computer Coordinator
Reported to : VP and Exploration Manager
Responsible for negotiating the purchase and installation of a geophysical computer system
as well as negotiating a service contract for the computer system.
This project involved the preparation of the specifications for the mainframe, AFE preparation, purchasing and installing the system in Bangkok. Following the successful installation of the mainframe in Bangkok , the interactive geophysical interpretation software was installed and tested. Clients were trained and the system was put into production use. A 3 person staff maintained the system and wrote many "add on" programs to the software.
Also worked with the Exploration Department to specify , purchase and install the next generation hardware and software (UNIX based) to replace the older mainframe system.
Coordinated the office move to larger quarters. This project included working with the Thai contractors refurbishing the new office area and supervising the construction of the new computer room.
1979-1983
Title: Mapping Coordinator
UNOCAL International Geophysical
Los Angeles
This position consisted of directing a group of digitizing personnel who digitized base maps and interpreted seismic sections and maintained this data in a UNOCAL proprietary mapping and data base system Much of the early work in testing and making this system a robust production system was performed by this group. Many of the first large geophysical interpretation projects were supported by this group using UNOCAL's mapping system, in conjunction with the system's development programmers.
The Mapping group also had a small staff of programmers who wrote and maintained UNOCAL's digitizing programs and other utility programs that interfaced with the proprietary mapping system.
Much of the check out of this system on two operating systems was performed by myself and the
programming staff.
The group became involved in the first interactive seismic software system used by UNOCAL. The interactive interpretation system was approved by UNOCAL's management and the system was configured and installed in Los Angeles.
In 1982, UNOCAL Thailand requested that UNOCAL's mapping system be installed in Thailand and I coordinated this effort on two trips to that office.

Title: Coordinator, Technical Data

Responsible for the direction of the activities of the Technical Data Department consisting of 44 members (1 expatriate and 43 Libyan Nationals)
The groups within Technical data consisted of:
Exploration Data Base Group (10)
Exploration Drafting Group (15)
Exploration Scouting Group (3)
Company Reproduction Group(16)
The Data Base Group was responsible for gathering well data and maintaining a data base of this information. The group also prepared programs that extracted and plotted data and maps for the Exploration Department. The Drafting, Scouting and Reproduction groups performed all the normal tasks that those groups do in any large oil company.
All Technical Data was handled by this department and all coordination with Libyan Oil ministries and The National Oil Company was coordinated by this department. This included all of Oasis Oil Company technical matters (e.g. well permits, daily, weekly and yearly reports).

Flight test data processing for the flight certification of the L1011 aircraft and S3A Navy submarine detection program. Responsibilities included running �Basic Data� reduction and �Quick Reaction� programs to present flight test data to engineers evaluating aircraft test data.
1971-1979 Boeing Aircraft Corp.
Seattle, Washington
Responsible for the automation of flight test instrumentation calibration data used to present calibrated test data information to flight test engineers. Programs involved included the fight test certification of the 747, 727 and 737 Boeing aircrafts.
1961-1971: AVCO Corp
Wilmington, MA.
Flight Test Data Processing, Evaluation of flight test data, instrument calibration data
preparation and programming assignments. Air Force programs involved included test
data processing on the Atlas, Titan and Minuteman re-entry vehicles. Also worked on
the Apollo program as the companies data processing representative.
